É«ÀÇÎÑ’s 12-month diploma programs have always centered around immersing you in production, for a hands-on experience that closely reflects real industry environments and workflows. For flexibility, we have added options that allow you to select different delivery models – either fully in-person over 12 months or an online/on-campus hybrid experience.

GRAPHIC DESIGN FUNDAMENTALS

Explore if creative design is the right career path for you, while building a fundamental skill set in graphic design on small creative projects.

Term: 1

PRODUCTION CENTRE

Specialize in UX/UI or Motion Graphics Design. Develop your personal brand as a Designer while working as a team to pitch & deliver a project for a real client.

Terms: 2-4

GRAD PROJECT STUDIO

Design and deliver your Graduate Project in UX/UI Design or Motion Graphics Design, with industry mentor support. Explore new design tools as you continue to build your professional portfolio.

Terms: 5-6

On-Campus Delivery

Our 1-year, fully in-person program remains unchanged. This is the same production-based experience, preparing you for the industry’s current practices and technologies.

AFTER GRADUATION:
With your Graduate Project and Case Study serving as the signature pieces of your design portfolio, apply for junior positions at studios or launch your own brand and start your entrepreneurial/freelance career.

  • Completion of É«ÀÇÎÑ’s Foundation Visual Art & Design program

Hybrid Delivery

Vancouver Film School’s Digital Design program is best experienced in its 1-year, accelerated and on-campus model. However, in our commitment to meeting the fast-changing needs of the industry, É«ÀÇÎÑ is introducing a new Hybrid Model that will allow creative designers of various backgrounds and skill levels to access our program through a combination of online and on-campus learning.

This is É«ÀÇÎÑ’s signature, hands-on training – delivered differently.

With entry and completion points at each stage, this model is truly designed to meet your training needs. Enrol in select stages only (*prerequisites required) and/or take breaks in between. Each stage offers its own certificate of completion, but students who complete all three stages receive their É«ÀÇÎÑ diploma for the best preparation possible for the fast-changing industry of today and tomorrow.

  • Start as a freelance graphic designer

  • Completion of É«ÀÇÎÑ’s Foundation Visual Art & Design program

Program Overview

 

Term 01

Understand fundamental design approaches for both UX/UI and motion design, target audiences, and current tools to tell simple, powerful stories, and create solutions that work.

Term 02

Take your tools skills to the next level by creating projects that focus on humanizing information, 3D graphics, typography, branding, and motion broadcast design.

Term 03

Gain experience working with and presenting to a real client, learn more about the industry you’re joining, and harness your design skills to create pieces the world will see.

Term 04

Jump into your chosen specialization of motion graphic design or interactive design, research your idea and concept for your graduate project, and pitch it to industry mentors.

Term 05

Execute your idea and concept, managing the intricacies of studio-scale production, and work with your mentor to build and refine your graduate project.

Term 06

Portfolio development for digital designers. Work with experts in employment strategy, and the business, law, and ethics of design to finalize your personal brand and position as a designer in your chosen field.

Requirements

You will be asked to submit one of the following along with your application. Your advisor can help with selecting the best option.

Your portfolio should demonstrate your familiarity with a range of visual work (e.g., print design, web design and development, etc.). You'll find information on how to send your portfolio in the application form, or you can ask your Advisor.Ìý

When you talk to your Advisor, let them know that you've completed the Foundation program and they will put a copy of your diploma in your file for you.
