Motion Graphics in After Affects (online)
This 7-week course will teach you the motion graphics tools & techniques to make eye-catching designs in Adobe After Effects. First, you will explore the foundations of effective vector-based compositions, shape layers, and paths. Then, you will learn different methods of 2D animation, including manually animating with keyframes, understanding the Graph Editor, changing speed with time remapping, and looping with expressions.
Next is compositing, the combining of visual elements from separate sources and masking out areas of an effect. Then, you will learn how to create an animated logo and design & animate titles and call-to-action elements like a 鈥楽ubscribe鈥� button for social media content. You鈥檒l complete the course by rendering your 1-minute motion graphics video project for presentation.

Intro to Adobe Illustrator (online)
This course introduces students to the fundamentals of graphic design through Adobe Illustrator, combining creative problem-solving with practical, industry-relevant software skills. Students will learn to navigate Illustrator鈥檚 workspace and tools, create and edit vector artwork, build compositions using shapes and paths, work with typography, colour and imagery, and prepare artwork for digital and print applications.
Alongside these technical skills, students will develop foundational knowledge of composition, hierarchy, visual communication and design thinking. Through a series of practical design tasks, students will move from research and concept development through experimentation, critique, refinement and final execution, culminating in a larger project that brings these skills together.

- Navigate Adobe Illustrator鈥檚 interface and workspace, and confidently set up, organize, save and manage files for different design projects.
- Create and manipulate vector artwork using fundamental Illustrator tools and techniques, including shapes, paths, alignment, layers and drawing tools.
- Understand and apply foundational principles of graphic design, such a composition, hierarchy, contrast, typography and colour, to understand what makes a design clear, balanced and intentional.
- Combine shapes, paths, typography and imagery to create cohesive graphic compositions.
- Professionally approach and execute a real-world design brief using a design-thinking process, including understanding the audience and problem, research, ideation, prototyping, testing and refinement.
- Participate in a collaborative design-studio process, using critique and visual analysis to strengthen their work, make more intentional design decisions and develop their eye for design.
- Prepare and export finished artwork for common digital and print applications, including appropriate document setup, file organization and export settings.
